This 45-year-old Shiraz rug lines its medallions up the middle — a row of diamonds down a coral-red field, each one patterned in navy, ivory, and earth tones. The central octagon has a cream ground with fine floral work, and a navy border holds the whole column together.
The vertical rhythm of the design suits the size: at 6’6″ x 3’8″, it’s made for hallways, entries, or the foot of a bed, where the medallion column can be seen end to end.
