About SaraMoon

Hello, I’m Sara — founder of SaraMoon Rugs.

I’m an interior architect by training, and I’ve always been drawn to handmade arts of every kind. When I moved to Canada, I started a page and began reading, learning, and sharing everything I discovered about Iranian crafts.

In the middle of moves, travels between countries, and becoming a mother, I launched my website — selling jewelry, handmade shoes, and all sorts of beautiful things.

When we came to Calgary, I started thinking: I want to focus on one thing, and present it in the best way possible. That’s when I chose rugs — one of the most important arts of the Iranian people, an art they have carried and spoken through for centuries, inseparable from Iranian culture itself.

So I put my entire focus on hand-knotted rugs — especially tribal and village pieces, the most unique of all. Every one is one of a kind, each with its own story.

Then came the leap: seven months in Iran, hand-selecting 210 vintage rugs one by one. More and bigger shipments have arrived since, and for three years now, I’ve been running my own little shop — and those pieces are bringing warmth, beauty, and history to homes across North America.

Whether you visit our Calgary showroom or shop online, you’re not just buying décor — you’re bringing home a piece of art with a story.

Thank you for being part of my story.
