This 45-year-old Sharabian rug has the presence of a much bigger piece: a magnificent central medallion of floral and geometric shapes on a rich crimson field, worked in navy, forest green, and golden ochre. Ivory spandrels in the corners give the red room to breathe.

The navy border carries a continuous pattern of flowers and vine scrolls that ties everything together. At 5’7″ x 9’11”, it anchors a formal living room, a library, or a dining room with authority.
