Product Details
The Shahsavan tribe lives in Saveh, which is in northwest Iran and is just south of Tehran. Saveh is where Saveh carpets are made. Shahsavan, a term given to troops who were guarding Persia’s northern frontier in the 17th century, literally translates to “For those who adore the Shah” in Farsi. The bulk of Saveh rugs are tiny fragments and rug runners because they were made by nomadic people using compact looms that were simple to disassemble and transport when migration was required. In addition to serving as warm floor coverings in their tents, the rug runner-style weavings were largely employed as saddle bags and animal trappings. The Soumak and Kilim weaves are widely used in Saveh carpets’ materials. This rug has a geometric pattern and light red background.
The Pile material is 100% natural fine wool and the foundation is made of natural cotton.
